Tom "Spanky" Assiter and his wife Amy will be joining ProStar Auctions, LLC on October 3, 2009 as the auctioneer for five lake area homes and his wife Amy will be one of the bid assistants at the Premier Lake Home Auction event.
In making the announcement, Robert A. Shively, Partner of ProStar Auctions said, ?Spanky and Amy are the two most well known and talented auctioneers in the world and are often referred to as the "rock stars" of the auction industry. Their Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction fame is world-renowned. This is a must attend event that will be fun and exciting for all those in attendance.?
Spanky?s love and passion for the auction business has resulted in his becoming one of the most dynamic and sought after auctioneers. He has conducted auctions across the United States, England, Canada, South America, Puerto Rico and South Africa.
In the summer of 2007, his global impact on the auction industry was recognized when he became one of the youngest inductees into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame and the Texas Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
Spanky was awarded International Champion Auctioneer at the National Auctioneers Association Convention in 1991 and named Texas State Champion Auctioneer the same year. In 1994, he was elected to the National Auctioneers Association's Board of Directors, and has served on many committees within the organization as well as past president.
Since 1992, Spanky has held court at the Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction, conducted auctions for the sale of factory automobile inventories including Honda, Jaguar, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Chrysler, Ford and GM, and in 2005 he was titled World Champion Auto Auctioneer.
His personal inspirational story, celebrity status and motivational style of speaking have made him a much-desired speaker and lecturer.
Spanky will be joined in the auction by his wife, Amy E. Assiter who has her own highly successful professional career, inspiring other women to look toward their goals, and pursue their dream.
Amy has amassed recognition and received acclaim in a much shorter period of time than many of her peers and has an unofficial fan club made up of auto and auction enthusiasts from around the world.
In February 1999, she won the Oklahoma State Auctioneers Association (OSAA) Rookie Champion, and in February 2000, won the Oklahoma State Reserve Champion. The first female in the history of the association to achieve either of these levels.
In 2000 she won the industry's most coveted title, International Auctioneer Champion, (IAC) Women's Division. During her reign, as the IAC, she served as the Goodwill Ambassador for the National Auctioneers Association (NAA). This responsibility included raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through benefit auctions, conducting educational and motivational seminars and workshops nationwide, and working with the media on behalf of the auction industry.
In 2003, she became an auctioneer and bidder assistant at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, allowing her to exhibit her talents on national television.
Her celebrity status, passion for veterans and patriotism, and inspiring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner has her traveling almost as much as her auctioneering talents. She makes appearances at car shows across the nation, signing autographs and showcasing her singing talents.
Before becoming an auctioneer, Amy studied Economics at Oklahoma State University and worked as a commodity broker at KIS Commodities in Oklahoma City.
"Amy Sparks-Assiter is what we would call a real Sweetheart, in the most respectful sense, a genuine nice person, who is passionate about her career and life." according to Bill Posner of the Mustang Generations organization.
